The Vision

THE VISION

How it all began…
When the book was published in March of 2017, I was shocked at its’ success. Hundreds of copies of A Letter to My Daughters were sold in the first 48hours of it being on Amazon . Many times I wondered who was actually buying this book! Amidst the questions, I remembered a pledge I had made to God at the beginning of the 2017 – “When I get to heaven, people I have never met will run to me, give me a hug and say ‘because of the way you lived your life I made it here’…” This was what had informed my choice of publishers and the platforms where it was sold. I was keen to ensure that the book reached places and people I could never meet.

The Instruction…
One day, I was reflecting on God’s blessings and reading through the many comments telling me just how much wisdom they had gained from the book and how transformational it would be for any young person. It was then I heard an instruction in my heart to give 1000 copies of the book to 1000 young ladies in Nigeria.

Getting to work…
Even now I remember my social media guru admonishing me to promote the book before the project. Well, I guess stepping back a bit helped me to plan and put together a tour – a tour I will be eternally grateful to God for. I contacted organisations that worked with young girls in Nigeria and asked them to send proposals to me. I felt that the decision to work with existing organisations would allow me to have continuity to produce more materials for them if needed. After a lot of scrutinizing, praying and dialogue, I selected 6 organisations. Do visit the tour diary to read about the tour. I have more tours in mind, more places to reach in Africa and beyond and I am counting on you to help. Please click on the donate button to support this project and I will keep you up to date with future tours.

A Platform for letters…
Call me restless, but as we I began to think of how to celebrate the 1 st year anniversary of the book, I heard another instruction – create a platform for people to write letters so that girls and their mums would read, learn and grow. It all sounded so exciting…. and I’m glad that together we could birth this vision. If you haven’t already, please register and then write a letter to a daughter or to a mum. Also take time to browse through the letters and learn from other women and young girls who have taken time to write. My prayer is that the insights share would be the foresight we need to become our best self. #LiveWell #LiveFull #LiveOut!
